About The Grove Cafe & Bakery
Our Story
In 1854 Petersburg, WV, Dr. Thomas Jefferson Grove, MD, of Grant County built his main residence on the current day corner of Grove St. and Virginia Ave. Adjacent to the main house, Dr. Grove erected a small cottage to be used as his doctor’s office and the upstairs for his caretaker’s quarters.
In 2017, I purchased the one acre lot and the main house became The Spectacle Family Eye Care. I fell in love with the little cottage beside the office and after four years of planning, I opened The Grove Cafe and Bakery on Oct. 8, 2021. The unique building that was once a physical healing place for it’s patients, I desire it to become a place where friends and the community can gather for laughter, good coffee, and sweet treats!
